Marine Growth Remover (MGR) Instructions

Everything you need to know about using Crystilium MGR

Usage applications

Raw water cooling systems

To clean sea water intake systems there are two methods:

  1. Open-Loop Circulation: This preferred method recirculates the MGR cleaning solution with a flushing system or the system pump.
  2. Immersion: The simplest cleaning technique, though the slowest, involves completely filling the system with the MGR cleaning solution and allowing it to soak, usually overnight.

See our Technical Data Sheet for detailed usage instructions.

Separate parts cleaning

To clean parts such as: sea chest, valves, strainers, pipes, etc:

  1. Soak parts in MGR
  2. Create agitation by either adding an air hose to the tank or with a plastic centrifugal pump.
  3. Let the product work for 4 to 8 hours (depending of the amount of residue).
  4. Wash off with fresh water or a pressure washer.
  5. Repeat if necessary.

Hull cleaning

To remove marine growth from your vessel’s hull:

  1. Ensure surfaces are dry for best results.
  2. Spray diluted MGR on surface and let the product work for at least 15 minutes. Do not allow product to dry.
  3. Repeat if necessary.
  4. Wash off completely with fresh water or a pressure washer.

Self-contained air conditioning condensers

To clean air conditioning systems there are two methods:
